Through Wilt Chamberlain the game of basketball was forced to evolve. Adapt. Come up with plan B’s, anything to stop the big man’s domination, which all started at the University of Kansas in 1956.

The Big Dipper was, quite literally, a gamechanger.

To see him in person was to see history. When he first walked on the court as a freshman to scrimmage the varsity squad, over 14,000 people showed up to get a look. What did Wilt do? He hung 42 points on his upperclassman, snatched 29 rebounds, and sent eastern Kansas into a frenzy. From there, records began to fall.
